Catrice - Get Boho In SoHo & Water Decal Fail

Hello Sweeties!

How are you today? A while back I showed you the Mickey Mouse manicure I did for my Fianceés nieces birthday and talked a bit about what I was wanting to do originally.
I've been meaning to wear these water decals with the gorgeous rainbow swirl and after working quite a while on getting them on something really bad happend, but let's get to that in the end. First I want to show you swatches of Get Boho In SoHo by catrice.
Get Boho In SoHo is from the Satin Matt Collection (05) and has about the same formula as Minty Memories. It is very tricky to apply and the first coat goes on extremely streaky. It easily bubbles and shows brushstrokes. For this manicure I used two coats.

But I really like this polish even though it is a little troublemaker. Especially for what I had in mind it was perfect with the unobtrusive shimmer. It gave me a wonderful background for the rainbow swirl decals. (I like that better than just a plain old white polish.)
I carefully cut the water decals out, placed them in water and on my nails one by one and once I was done with all ten nails I applied a generous amount of Seche Vite to seal it in. My left hand was done and I went on to do my right hand, when I realised, that the decals started to flow to the sides. I don't know if this was due to the hot weather or if I simply was too generous with the topcoat, but it was aweful and there was no way to save this manicure. I had to take it off immediately after working on it for quite some time. I really was angry! (Mostly with myself of course...)
Have you ever experienced something similar to this?
How do you like this colorful decal? I am so glad I snapped a picture before I applied the top coat. Otherwise I wouldn't even have been able to show you what it could have looked like.

catrice - Minty Memories

Hello Lovelies!

Today I want to show you a polish I bought in Austria a few weeks back. I was asking wich polishes you would like to see and my friend Andera from Colour Your Life was curious about this polish so let me present to you Minty Memories (04) by Catrice Luxury Vintage, with a Satin Matte Effect.
As Andrea mentioned in her lovely comment, the polish looks quite stunning in the bottle wich you can see in the picture above. it has a wonderful blue shimmer to a soft turquouse base and I instantly fell in love with it, when I layed eyes on it. Being on Sale and half price off I simply had to buy it!
My exaltation was attenuated when I started painting my nails. The first coat went on very streaky, but I thought that might level out with the second one. Once that was dry I painted them again wich caused bubbles and even more streaks. I then did a third coat just to make sure to do everything I could to make it better, but it didn't help much either. I am really disappointed in this polish. In addition to the bad formula I hardly see any of the beautiful shimmer from the bottle on my nails.
I thought my problems with the application may have something to do with the Maybelline base coat I use and so I will give this a second chance with another base coat. Hopefully that will help.

Have you ever had trouble with applying a polish like that?

Skittle Manicure

Hello Lovelies!

It is finally getting really hot here in Germany and I am ready to wear bright colours. Today I chose a manicure that I have been wanting to do for a while now but was never in the mood for. A colourful Skittle Manicure.
Most of you probably know the yummie little candies that gave this mani type its name so I won't have to explain that! :-D Here are the colours I chose for the different tastes:
Strawberry: Maybelline Color Show - Power Red
Orange: NYX - Pop Culture
Lemon: Maybelline Color Show - Electric Yellow
Lime: essie - vice versa
Grape: Suzie And The 7 Düsseldorfs (or is it actually black currant?)

For this manicure I used a Maybelline base coat, two coats of china glaze - White On White to make the colours pop and then two coats of each colour. I didn't use a topcoat to show the different finishes of all my polishes. You can best see them in the pictures taken in natural sunlight below. Some are super glossy, others shimmery and almost a bit frosty and the green vice versa has a very soft satin finish.

I think this is such a great manicure for summer! It is fun and it will fit almost every outfit.

Have you ever done a Skittle Manicure? Do you like mine?

OPI - 50 Years of Style & Rhinestone Design

Hello Beauties!

Happy Friday! After this mornings post I want to show you one of the OPI minis on my nails.
I decided to start with 50 Years of Style, wich is a pearly golden creme polish. I am not quite sure how to describe the finish of this polish, but I would say it is a metallic satin finish. It is definitely a metallic polish, but it has also a hint of matte to it. There are a few visible brushstrokes, but they don't run down that deep and didn't bother me much. The colour is a warm gold with a soft pearl-like shimmer.
50 Years of Style has a wonderful formula that dries pretty fast. It is easy to work with although the first coat went on a bit streaky. Since the brush of this mini bottle is very tiny I had to dip in multiple times for one nail. (I have to admit that I always wipe my brush dry on one side, wich might be the reason for that.) With two coats I reached full opacity.

I then used some black and a golden rhinestone to create a line on the left side of my ringfinger. Therefore I applied a very thin layer of topcoat (preferably not the fast dry kind so you have time to move the stones a bit) and then lined up the rhinestones.

I am really happy with this manicure. 50 Years of Style is a great polish and I love the colour. The rhinestone design is simple and elegant. You can wear it for any special occasion or with your everyday office outfit.

How do you like this manicure? Would you like to try that?
