claire's - Neon Polishes & Advanced Stamping Accent

Hello Lovelies!

And a very Happy Friday! Today I want to show you a summer manicure that is perfect for the hot and sunny weather we are having again right now. For this manicure I used only polishes I bought in Berlin and shared with you yesterday (Day 2), plus a black stamping polish.
First let me show you how I created my accent nail: I used the advanced stamping technique wich means that you transfer a pattern to your stamper and then fill it out with your desired colours. Once that is dry you paint on a topcoat and peel it of 30 minutes later (or the next day. Just make sure everything is dry!) I also included a layer of white to make the neon polishes stand out even better. But I would not recommend doing that. It is better to paint your nail white before placing the decal on. In my opinion this makes the cleanup easier and prevents white borders.

Once you placed the decal on your nail in the right position press down gently and remove any excess. You can cut it down with a pair of scissors or remove it with acetone or polish remover. What I like to do is to press down against the side walls of my fingers with an orange stick and break off the excess. This only works with a very well dried decal so be patient! :-)
Once you're finished with cleaning everything up seal in your decal with top coat. Don't use too many brushstrokes or you might smudge your beautiful design. I used Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat wich in my opinion is the best top coat ever. It gives a wonderful glossy finish and dries rapidly. It also almost never smudges a design.

I painted my other nails with different neon shades. On my thumb I used the orange Stormy Day, on my pointer Cobalt. The pink on my middlefinger is called Rave and the green polish on my pinkie is Pinball. All the polishes required three coats to be opaque. The formulas were all very similar and very good. I had no trouble with the application and they dried fast.

For my decal I also used the other neon shades I purchased. The yellow California Girl and the purple Electric. Furthermore I used an apricot neon shade by the name Pastel Neons. I bought this one a day later so you will see it in part 3 of my Berlin series.
I topped off all of my nails with Seche Vite. I really love how this manicure turned out. I was not sure that I liked neon polish on my nails, but this manicure proofed me wrong. Maybe a full set of neon in one colour would be too much, but this way it is perfect for me.
I also love how the polish seems to be glowing in direct sunlight. The colours look so intense and are just beautiful to look at. On the polish bottles it says 'fluorescent'. I am not sure if that means they'd glow under a black light. Do you have any experience in that department?
Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy the sun! I sure will.
How do you like this neon summer manicure? Would you wear it like this or do you prefer in in one colour?

Oh, I almost forgot to mention wich stamping plate I used. It is the BP-31 plate from my Born Pretty Store Haul. I do have quite a selection of stamping plates but only a few of them have such great full nail patterns. I definitely have to get more of those! Any suggestions?

Little Haul & Swatches

Hello Loves!

As I told you in my previous post I bought these polishes a couple of weeks ago and totally forgot to blog about it. You have seen some of them used in my recent manicures others not yet.
I got four new p2 polishes, three of them are from my all time favourite Color Victim Line:

start me up (625) - running hot (629) - watch me walking (626)
and one is from the culture spirit LE:
indigo (030).

p2 is an Austrian brand also sold in german drugstores. The polishes - especially from the Color Victim Line - are fantastic! 8mL sell for €1,55 only and in my opinion they have really good quality. They don't have a huge selection of colours available at once, but they regularly bring out new shades and change their range in stores.
p2 also brings out LEs on a regular basis. I never get bored with them! :-D (Take a look at my growing p2 collection!)
The last polish I got is from the essence nauti girl LE:
AHOY, BOY! (01).

And here are the first swatches I did with these polishes. I sometimes do this on displays, but this time I decided to apply these five polishes right to my nails, wich makes it easier to get a feeling for the texture and opacity.
Start me up and running hot both are jelly polishes. I applied four layers each at wich point the orange running hot reached opacity. Its yellow counterpart still showed the natural nail and I decided that I was done trying to buildt it up and that I would layer it over a light base next time I use it!
Watch me walking is a crelly polish and needed three coats for full opacity. Read all the details in my previous blogpost!
The other two polishes are cremes and had perfect coverage in two coats.
I will link back to this page once I have done full swatches and reviews. As I said before I have already used some of these polishes in my manicures. Take a look below!
This is my Flamethrower mani in wich I've used two of my newbies! Can you guess wich? :-)
And as seen earlier on the blog here is watch me walking:
I am happy with my purchase. These are all great colours that are fun to wear and work with.

Wich one is your favourite here?

OPI - Color Paints & Brushstroke Mani

Hello Lovelies!

Happy Sunday! How is your weekend going so far? I am enjoying the warm weather and also the thunderstorms that bring a bit of chilling most nights these days. I recently purchased the new OPI Color Paints and hat to try them immediately.

The mini set contains the silver base polish and five of the eight available colours:
Silver Canvas Undercoat: A clean-slate silver to illuminate your masterpiece.
Primarily Yellow: Paint some sunshine with this glowing yellow.
Chromatic Orange: This freshly squeezed orange is awash with color.
Pen & Pink: I'm irresistibly drawn to this rosy pink.
Purple Perspective: The depth of this purple is mesmerizing.
Turquoise Aesthetic: Beauty is in the eye of this deep aqua.
First I applied the silver canvas. One coat was enough to get good coverage and it spread smoothly. This metallic silver shows a few brushstrokes, but since it is the base colour that didn't bother me at all.

Then I tried out the colours and did kind  of a skittle manicure with them, because I couldn't wait to see them all.

After the first coat the colours look very shiny and a bit metallic, because the silver is still visible. I really like them this way, but I did apply a second layer.
With two coats the colours are more intense. The lighter shades didn't change much except for the fact that the silver shine is mostly gone. The two darker shades get very intense and deep. Especially the purple is very dark with two coats.
Depending on how you want to use it, both - one and two coats - are fantastic. I decided to try a brushstroke manicure on top of the skittle manicure to see how the colours look combined. On the darker colours it is not very well visible, but with the lighter shades as background colours I like it!

And it is so much fun to do a brushstroke mani. You just wipe off any excess polish from your brush and drag it across your nails. Repeat with all desired colours until you are happy and your done.
Have you tried the new Color Paints yet? I need to experiment with them a bit more.

Skittle Pond Mani

Hello Beauties!

I wanted to do a Pond Mani for a while now, but I somehow never did. And after doing the Skittle Mani a few weeks ago, I decided to combine those two and go with a Skittle Pond Manicure.

I actually did a few swatches and manis that day so there is a lot of polish on my table, but for this manicure I used the polishes in the front row. I started with a coat of Maybelline - Marshmallow (19), wich is a pearly white, to ensure good coverage. Then I used some glitter jelly polishes in different colours. I used Yes Love - G13-4, G13-5 and G13-6, Wet 'n Wild 9.0.2.1.Orange and The Gold & The Beautiful in combination with OPI sheer tint I'm Never Amberrassed to make a yellow nail.
After the first coloured coat, I started do make a few large dots with my dotting tool using china glaze - White On White. Once the dots dried, I added another layer of colour. I did that about five or six times until I was satisfied with the coverage and depth. On my pinkie I alternated the gold glitter jelly with the OPI tint. I also used different sized dotting tools to get a mixture of small and big polkadots.

A Pond Manicure is a lot like a Jelly Sandwich, but instead of the glitter you use polkadots between your coloured layers. Easy but time consuming.
At the end I sealed it in with Seche Vite to help it dry faster. You have to be really careful with a manicure like this. Due to the number of layers it is a bit squishy for quite some time.
And here are a few mor pictures to show you my nails from all angles. It was pretty hard to catch the depth of this manicure in a picture.

My favourite nail is the green one, because you can see the different layers best here. But I actually love them all! :-D
I hope you like this manicure as much as I do!

Have you ever done a Pond Manicure? Wich colour is your favourite?
