Rose Nail Art

Hello Sweeties!

Today is such a grey day in Munich and I feel like posting a Black and White Manicure. This is one of those rare occasions that I actually am still wearing the polish I blog about. It usually takes me a couple of days to upload everything, but I was working on the blog last night and so here is my manicure for you!

I started with two layers of L'Oreal - Black Swan and then added a stamped rose design to it. I did use white and silver stamping polish for this manicure, but in the pictures it looks like I only used one colour. I still like this manicure a lot. I don't know what it is with my ringfinger, but somehow I always manage to ruin the pattern on one nail.

As you can see in the pictures it was very sunny yesterday. I don't understand why the silver stamping polish doesn't show in my pictures. Not even in sunlight. Makes me a bit angry that you can not see what I see...
I hope you still like my manicure. I thought it would also look gorgeous for Halloween.
Speaking of Halloween I would like to inform you that I am going to host a nail art contest on my blog in a few weeks to honour the best Halloween Nail Artist. Details will be up this afternoon so please stop by again!

Revlon - Holographic Pearls

Hello Lovelies!

Happy Friday! We made it through the week! Today I want to show you Revlon - Holographic Pearls (765) that I finally got after searching for it for ages!
Ever since I saw pictures of it online I knew I had to have it. I went into the city and looked everywhere, but couldn't find a single bottle of Revlon polish. Then I looked online. Maybe I could order it via Amazon. That would have been possible, but I wasn't willing to pay €40.- plus shipping for one bottle of nailpolish. When we went to Berlin on vacation I was looking in every store that sold nailpolish and couldn't find anything. Finally a nice sales assistant told me that Revlon is no longer selling in Germany, because of some distribution problems. Wow, had I known that earlier on... Well, I still would have visited all those stores I guess! :-D (check out my Berlin Haul).
A few weeks back my future sister in law went on a business trip to the USA and I asked her if she could maybe get me a bottle of Holographic Pearls. And guess what - SHE DID! She even bought me two bottles!
And finally I can show you swatches of this beauty. I have already used it is an accent in my Aloha shirt manicure, but here are some more details for you. Holographic pearls is a glitter top coat with a transforming effect. It has a clear base packed with tiny iridescent glitter particles that shimmer in all the colours of the rainbow. One layer is enough to cover your entire nail with glitter and make it look stunning.
For this manicure I started to paint my nails in black and white. I then added one layer of Holographic Pearls to my black ringfinger and two layers to my white middle finger. Look how gorgeous the sparkle in the sun!
On my pinkie and indexfinger I added some polkadots and filled them on with the glitter too. I really love the glitter density in this topper. You only need a very small amount of polish to get great results.

On my thumb I decided to stamp on two red roses with my Born Pretty Store stamping polish to add just a hint of colour. I forgot to write down wich plate I used, but I think that's not the most important thing here.
You may have guessed it: I LOVE THIS POLISH! It is so pretty and I reached for it so often ever since I got it.

How do you like this sparkling glitter? Do you own it too?

Animal Print Series - Black Tiger

Hello Lovelies!

How are you today? The weekend is almost here - you nearly made it! Hurray :-D Today I want to share with you another Animal Print design. I saw similar pictures online and liked them a lot so I had to try it this way too. I think it is a bit more elegant and less girlie.
The base colour for this manicure is Maybelline Color Show - Mauve Kiss. I then added a stripe of black polish to approximately one third of my nails with L'Oreal - Black Swan. Using a fine nail art brush I created tiger stripes on the other part of my nails.
I don't know what it is with me, Animal Prints and matte top coat, but I added some to this manicure too. At first I was pretty pleased and wore it for a while, but I ended up adding a glossy topcoat again later. I simply didn't like the look of the matte finish anymore, especially on the black polish. I didn't take another picture though, but you get the idea of how it looks like glossy from the pictures above.

How do you like this design? Is this something you'd like to wear too?

Animal Print Series - Zebra or Tiger on Rainbow Gradient

Hello Beauties!

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Did you do anything special? I really had a great weekend. We had lots of sunshine and I spent some time with family and took long walks. And of cours I painted my nails and had my SD card reader fixed! So tomorrow you are going to see a more recent manicure. Today I am going to show you another one from a while back. I decided to go with this colourful manicure:
Do you remember the gradient I did for Christopher Street Day in Munich in July? Check it out here. I used it to create a fun and summery animal print pattern on top of it with some black and white nailpolish and a fine nail art brush.
Is that more like a Zebra or a Tiger? I couldn't tell. I am however pretty happy with the outcome. I think the black and white stripes help the colours to stand out even better. I also love the sparkles from china glaze - Fairy Dust shining through.
To give this manicure an even more natural look I added a matte top coat. Or have you ever seen a glossy tiger? ;-) Unfortunately I was a bit too quick with this step and smudged my black polish a little bit. But I don't think it's too bad.
What do you think ot this manicure? Do you like the combination of animal print and the colourful rainbow gradient?

Glitter Gradient on Black Swan

Hello Beauties!

How are you today? I want to share a manicure with you that I did quite some time ago, but never felt like posting due to the hot sunny weather we were having this whole summer so far. Some of you may remember that little accent nail on my pinkiefinger.
As a base for my mani I used L'Oreal - Black Swan and then sponged on china glaze - Techno & Fairy Dust with a make-up sponge to create the glitter gradient. Today is a cold gray morning and I totally feel like showing you this manicure now since it reminds me of a dark rainy day. (Wich I also love from time to time. It is a welcome diversion from the heat waves we had.)
I sponged on the glitter to get a good glitter density without the bulkiness of the clear base wich is mostly absorbed by the sponge. To bring everything together perfectly I added my favourite topcoat - Seche Vite.
I love how sparkly these glitters are and with the combination of small and bigger particles of glitter the gradient effect shows best and is super easy to do.
When I was done I felt like there was still something missing and placed some rhinestones on my glitter, but ended up disliking it and gently scraped them off again.
Today these nails are just perfect for me. When it was so hot, I didn't like looking at them at all! Do you know the feeling?

How do you like this simple glitter gradient? What does it rmind you of?

Misslyn - edgy

Hello Loves!

This is my last 'live' post before going on vacation tomorrow. I have a bunch of posts prepped and scheduled for the next two weeks so make sure to stop by that my hard work wasn't for nothing. :-D A few days ago I used Misslyn - edgy (11F), from this summer sale haul, as an accent nail and loved it so much that I decided I had to use it in a full manicure too. That's what I want to share with you today.
Edgy is a very dark grey/anthracite crelly polish full of different coloured micro glitter flakies. I see blue, yellow, purple and a hint of green. It is such a beautiful polish!

It would be okay to use two slightly thicker coats for full opacity, but I did use three for this manicure, because I had some minor imperfections after my second coat. If you apply a very thin layer only edgy could also be used as a dark glitter topper. It's glitter density is extremely high and will show up all over the nail even with the thinnest coat possible. It also gives you quite an unique finish.
Edgy is form Misslyns Satin Metal line and dries to a silky, smooth matte finish with some shine left. And a whole lot of shimmer from the fakies.
I added a coat of Seche Vite to seal it in and to make it glossy again. I just like it best that way!

As an accent I picked out drop-shaped rhinestones matching the colours of the flakies. I used yellow, clear, dark blue, light green and light blue ones and placed them near the cuticles. I then used a very liquid top coat to seal them in and avoid bubbles.

Even though this polish is a real beauty I have two points that I need to criticise. First It takes quite long to dry. Even though I added Seche Vite in the end I got some bumps on my thumb hours after painting them. Okay, I did add a more liquide top coat too, to seal in my rhinestones, but that shouldn't cause that effect. And the second thing is that it doesn't last too long. It hasn't been a full day of wearing the polish and I already have bald tips.

Taking all that into consideration I would still buy this polish again!

Do you have anything similar in your collection?

Catrice - Holo My Hand

Hello Loves!

You almost made it through this week! Today I want to show you one of my new polishes I bought while I was in Austria. (See the full Salzburg haul here.) This is catrice LE holographic - Holo My Hand (C15).
Holo My Hand is a light blue holographic polish that shimmers in all colours of the rainbow when it's under any kind of light, but mostly you see a pinkish purple and green. This polish has an excellent formula that spreads evenly and applies smoothly. For full opacity you need two coats.
Unfortunately I got a few bubbles on my ringfinger, but they are hardly visible in the pictures. Sadly so is the gorgeous holographic shimmer. It almost looks like it has a foil finish in these pictures taken indoors with a flash and without any topcoat.
In sunlight it even seems to be dull and blunt. I really don't like it in these pictures, but in real life it truly looks amazing.

I decided to add some topcoat and take some more pictures to see if that makes any difference on camera, but it barely does.
To cover up those little bubbles and add a bit of contrast to my nails I made some polkadots on my ringfinger using Misslyn satin melat nail polish - edgy (11F). It is a fantastic iridescent dark grey to black glitter that I have to try on its own soon.

I love how it sparkles. It is a wonderful match for Holo My Hand. These two go so well together.
How do you like this light blue holo? Do you have any tips on tow to photograph holo polishes properly? I always end up with pictures that don't do the actual polish any justice.
