Battle of the Whites

Hello everyone!

Today I want to show you a few white polishes. I usually use china glaze - White On White as a base for light coloured nailpolish, but it always is so streaky. Now I am looking for another white to use instead. I applied two coats each for these swatches.

Maybelline - White Dream & Pearly White & Marshmallow - essence - give me nude, baby!
The Maybelline polishes all have a pearly shimmer and are quite sheer. There is not much difference in colour. With two coats there is still quite a bit VNL.
Same goes for the essence polish. It has a few specks of microglitter in an offwhite very sheer creme polish.
These polishes are all too sheer to be used as a base.
Next I tried:
NYX - White - s-he stylzone - 120 - BeYu Nail Color 6 - OPI - Angel with a Leadfoot
The s-he stylezone is not opaque enough as a base, but the others would all work fine. I think that I will use NYX - White Blanc in the future. It went on best and gave good coverage in one layer.
Do you also have that many white nailpolish?

essence - circus confetti

Hi again everybody!

This is my second post for today, but since my first one was missing the christmas spirit, I wanted to show you something sparkly! The essence special effect topper circus confetti is a fabulous 3D glitter polish. It contains silver microglitter and small and medium sized hexes in all the colours of the rainbow and more. Let's get right to the pictures:

This is one coat of circus confetti on my plain nail. You can see the glitter density best this way.
I then added a 2nd coat to show you all the wonderful colours.
Like many glitter topcoats the jelly base is more on the thick side, but application is easy. It takes a little while to dry, because the layers are not as thin as usual nailpolish would be. This topper dries to a gritty finish, but with a generouse layer of topcoat (I preferre Seche Vite) it smoothens out.

I also layered this topper over some different polishes to see it's full beauty.
First I have two coats of circus confetti over one coat of Purple Charism.
Indoors:

And outdoors:

Then I layered CC over Chicago Champagne Toast. I only used one coat plus some dabbing here. And on my ringfinger I had a golden glitter accent nail before I did this manicure. It looks more dense than the others.

I also used circus confetti as an accent over Catrice - Hyde in the Park, that I will show you after Christmas.

And over Sinful Colors - Dancing Nails.

I really love it!

How do you like this topper?

Gold Polish comparison

Hello everyone!

I'm driving home for Christmas today and am quite excited! But this means that I will not be writing "live" on my blog. I have posts scheduled for the next few days though so please stop by to check them out! There will also be some Christmas manicures :-D

Since Christmas is only a few more days away and my fingers where craving for some gold I thought that a comparison of a few different golden polishes couldn't hurt.
On my thumb I put Catrice - Metallicious (C04 Limited Edition - Metallure).
On my index- and middelfinger I used Maybelline - Gold All Night (735).
And on my pinkie and Ringfinger I used essence - go bold (140) .

Thumb: Application of the Catrice polish was very easy and it was opaque in 2 coats. It has a metallic, brassy finish with a few visible brushstrokes. Topcoat would have probably smoothened them. All in all I think it is a pretty warm golden colour.
Index- & Middelfinger: I used two coats of Gold All Night, but one coat would have been okay too. This creme polish is quite opaque. The colour is a little cooler than the others and has a hint of silver in it. It is a perfect base for designs. I would describe it as a metallic foil finish if that makes any sence. :-) It has a little of both.
Last but not least the beautiful essence - go bold. I just love this golden colour. It is so shiny, with a foil finish and looks almost liquid on your fingers. I think it is perfect for Christmas nail art.

All pictures where taken indoors with a flash. I did put on basecoat for these swatches.

Which polish do you like best?

OPI - The Glittering Night vs. OPI Metallic 4 Life

Hello everybody!

I just did a review on OPI - Metallic 4 Life a few days ago and was looking at my polishes from my latest online shopping haul to decide wich one to do next, when I realized, that M4L does look exactly like OPI - The Glittering Night. It was not hard to decide what to do now: A comparison on those two!

So I painted my index and ringfinger with M4L and the others with The Glittering Night.
On the 1st coat I felt that M4L was a little easier to apply and the base was just a hint darker, but after the second coat I could not tell the difference anymore. They where both fully opaque and equally dark.
I did not use any base or topcoat here.

I like M4L a little better, because I think that application was a bit easier. Otherwise I could not see any variation. Glitter sizes and density is exactly the same to my eyes.

Do you see any difference?
