Christmas Tree Design

Hello everyone!

Original Post is from (Dec. 25th 2014)

I'll be back home tomorrow. Today I just have a few pics for you. I'll tell you about the colours I used later. I'm writing this on my phone and therefore want to keep it short!
Merry Christmas!

Edit (12.01.):
Hi guys, I totally forgot to do an update on this one...
As a base I used W7 - Linen that I got from my online shopping haul in december. It was the first W7 polish I've used so far. The formula was okay for the price. I got a 15mL bottle for €1,25 so I guess I couldn't expect much. The smell was awful, it applied streaky but leveled out with the second coat and was quite opaque. The polish was a bit on the thin side and I had to do quite a lot of cleaning around my cuticles. I do like the colour though. It is a warm natural beige and does look like linen.
For the design I used a dotting tool to create the tree with NYX - Alaskan Wild wich is a dark green creme polish. I then used my dotting tool to create the christmas ornaments on the tree using 3 Maybelline polishes:
-Cherry Diamonds (500/515D) is a ruby red with a golden shimmer.
-Vert Miracle (720) is a blueish very dark green
-Gold All Night (735) is a metallic gold. I used it here in this gold comparison.
I can not remember if I used a basecoat on this, but I usually don't when I am using light colour. I did for sure top it off with a layer of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas Ornament & Holly Leaves

Hi everybody!

Today I have another Christmas themed manicure for you.
I put a layer of BarryM nude on my nails and applied some essence - go bold (140) to the upper 3rd of my nails. On my left ringfinger I painted something like a Christmas ornament using Maybelline - Cherry Diamonds (515) and Catrice - Hyde in the Park. I also put on a golden rhinestone and topped it all of with Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

On my right ringfinger I put on 3 red rhinestones as berries and created holly leaves with my dotting tool.

I really like both designs, but I would definetely do the Holly Leaves again!

essence - circus confetti

Hi again everybody!

This is my second post for today, but since my first one was missing the christmas spirit, I wanted to show you something sparkly! The essence special effect topper circus confetti is a fabulous 3D glitter polish. It contains silver microglitter and small and medium sized hexes in all the colours of the rainbow and more. Let's get right to the pictures:

This is one coat of circus confetti on my plain nail. You can see the glitter density best this way.
I then added a 2nd coat to show you all the wonderful colours.
Like many glitter topcoats the jelly base is more on the thick side, but application is easy. It takes a little while to dry, because the layers are not as thin as usual nailpolish would be. This topper dries to a gritty finish, but with a generouse layer of topcoat (I preferre Seche Vite) it smoothens out.

I also layered this topper over some different polishes to see it's full beauty.
First I have two coats of circus confetti over one coat of Purple Charism.
Indoors:

And outdoors:

Then I layered CC over Chicago Champagne Toast. I only used one coat plus some dabbing here. And on my ringfinger I had a golden glitter accent nail before I did this manicure. It looks more dense than the others.

I also used circus confetti as an accent over Catrice - Hyde in the Park, that I will show you after Christmas.

And over Sinful Colors - Dancing Nails.

I really love it!

Gold Polish comparison

Hello everyone!

I'm driving home for Christmas today and am quite excited! But this means that I will not be writing "live" on my blog. I have posts scheduled for the next few days though so please stop by to check them out! There will also be some Christmas manicures :-D

Since Christmas is only a few more days away and my fingers where craving for some gold I thought that a comparison of a few different golden polishes couldn't hurt.
On my thumb I put Catrice - Metallicious (C04 Limited Edition - Metallure).
On my index- and middelfinger I used Maybelline - Gold All Night (735).
And on my pinkie and Ringfinger I used essence - go bold (140) .

Thumb: Application of the Catrice polish was very easy and it was opaque in 2 coats. It has a metallic, brassy finish with a few visible brushstrokes. Topcoat would have probably smoothened them. All in all I think it is a pretty warm golden colour.
Index- & Middelfinger: I used two coats of Gold All Night, but one coat would have been okay too. This creme polish is quite opaque. The colour is a little cooler than the others and has a hint of silver in it. It is a perfect base for designs. I would describe it as a metallic foil finish if that makes any sence. :-) It has a little of both.
Last but not least the beautiful essence - go bold. I just love this golden colour. It is so shiny, with a foil finish and looks almost liquid on your fingers. I think it is perfect for Christmas nail art.

All pictures where taken indoors with a flash. I did put on basecoat for these swatches.

Festive Manicure on Ombre Nails

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Hope your weekend is going well and you are all enjoying yourself.
Today I have a simple manicure to share with you.
A few days ago I did an ombre manicure with Cartice - England's Rose. I then decided to add a few stars and some glitter, to make it more appropriate for the holiday season.
Here's what I came up with:

I used these to decorate my nails:

I think the stars are very pretty and they shift colours from pastel green to pink/purple.

Santa Claus - Christmas Manicure

Hello everyone!

I did a Santa Manicure last weekend and promised to do another one and include a tutorial.
Since I like to keep my promises here it comes.

Today I therefore have something special for you: my very first tutorial!
This is what we're going for :-)
First gather everything you'll need for this manicure:

  • basecoat, topcoat
  • a nude colour
  • 2 red colours
  • black & white polish
  • silver or metallic polish or striper
  • 2 white rhinestones
  • black and red caviar pearls
  • acetone/polish remover
  • tweezers, dotting tool and a brush for cleanup
I used essence all in one base, Maybelline - Ivory Rose (75), Wet n Wild - Jezebel(E463) and Burgundy Frost(E412A), NYX - White(NGP149), essence - Black Is Black (144), b.pretty Nail Striper - metall pearl (07) and Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

Step one.
Paint the nail(s) you want to do the design on in a nude colour and all the other ones in a deep red (I used burgundy). The nude does not have to be perfect. If there is still some VNL that is ok.
Step two.
For your Santa face you have to paint the lower part of your finger in the lighter red colour (I used ruby). On one side brush down a little more. That is going to be tip of his hat.
It does not have to be perfect.
For your Santa suit you need to paint the neckline and then fill the rest of your nail with red.

Step three.
Now the white is up. Make sure to use a very opaque one. You don't want to paint many layers.
Using your dotting tool (or the end of a bobby pin) draw a line of white dots underneath santa's hat. And then go on with his beard. Dot around the sides of your nails - leaving a little space between the tip of the head and the beard - and whiten your tips. Then draw a mustache and make two dots for the eyes.

Don't forget to cover your nailtips in the front. You don't want any red shining through.
For the suit, draw a line down the middle of your nail, cover the neckline and the border of his coat.
Step four.
Draw a black belt on Santa's belly. Approximately in the lower 1/3rd.
Put one black dot to the tip of Santa's hat and place a white rhinestone on it.

If you don't have rhinestones let the black dry and put a white dot on and if you want some silver.

Step five.
We're almost done.
Use a silver or metallic polish to draw the beltbuckle. I used a striper, but you can use a toothpick or a fine brush aswell.
Put one layer of topcoat on Santa's face and place two black caviar beads as the eyes and a red one for the nose on it.
If you do not have these little pearls simply use little dots of polish instead. (No extra topcoat needed)

Step six.
Let everything dry very well and then put topcoat on.
FINISHED!

What do you feel about this little guy?
Please let me know what you think of my tutorial! I really would appreciate some feedback.
