Since Valentines Day is knocking on our doors I decided to show you my Maybelline New York Polish Collection that contains a lot of suitable pink and red polishes. And also I have to pearly whites, that are the same. Only difference is, tht one is an express finish polish that dries in 40 seconds and the other one is from the super stay line.

essence - free hugs, pixie dust & lovely, maybe - Valentines Day (#2)

Hi everybody!

Todays post is the second one of my Valentines Day Manicure mini series. Let me show you what we're going for and then step by step how I got there! (see all polishes here.)

First I picked a baby pink base colour namely essence - free hugs, that I applied in two coats.

If you are a fan of pink nails I can really recommend this creme polish. It has a good formula and will give you no trouble applying. For me it went on smoothly and was opaque in two thin coats.
I personally can't stand pink nails on their own and had to do something else too.
That is why I put on essence - pixie dust. On the bottle it says this is a holo shimmer polish.

First I only put on one layer, but I did not catch fire. The praised holo was missing. I only got the shimmer part on my nails.

But I do not give up that easy and tried putting on a second coat as recommended. I still can't see the holo part... :-( Don't get me wrong, I think this is a beautiful polish and gives a wonderful shimmer to any polish (btw I think one coat is enough for that), but it is missing the holo-part. Maybe sunlight would bring that out. I'll give it a try soon!

For a perfect Valentines Day finish I applied one layer of essence - lovely, maybe with some additional dabbing to cover bald spots to my nails. This effect polish has a pinkish shimmery jelly base full of white, pink and some purple glitter in different sizes.
For this manicure the application of pixie dust was not really necessary, but one is always wiser in the end, right? :-)
Anyhow I am happy with the result and hope you like it too.

Do you use essence polishes? How do you like todays Valentines Manicure?

Mavala - Liverpool & Polkadots for Valentines Day (#1)

Hello everyone!

As I said before I am planning to do a little Valentine-Design series from 1st to 14th of February and this is going to be number 1!
For todays Valentines Day Manicure (#1) I chose a simple one. I think it is amazing what you can get with so little. A few dots and some glitter and you have a great manicure.
I'll show you step by step wich polishes I used.
As my base colour I used MALAVA - Liverpool, wich is a light grey creme polish. It was opaque in two coats and very easy to apply.
Next I took a dotting tool to create red polkadots on my ringfinger and thumb. You can use any red you like. I used Maybelline New York - Forever Strong - Cherry Sin (501).

For this manicure I tried to make the dots even, but if you prefer you can do them irregular.
If you are happy with the way this looks you can apply a topcoat to seal it in, or you can put on some glitter like I did for some sparkle. I would recommend using a polish with microglitter, so your dots will not get covered, but if you like junky glitters better take them instead. Use whatever you like best!
First I only applied china glaze - Fairy Dust to my dotted nails (above) but then I decided to do it on all my fingers (below).
I was lucky to catch some sunlight to show you the beautiful sparkle this manicure has.

I am quite happy with the way this turned out. I think the combination of grey, red and some glitter is very pretty and totally wearable for Valentines Day!

How do you like this combo?
